Distant Train
Can you hear the whistle blow
Listen to that distant train go
And its on its way to Bowling Green
Listen close hear the engines scream

Rolls on and on over the tracks
Going somewhere just to come back
And just like a man running away
The pain will always be there to stay

Look to the sky smile in the moon
Listen to the sound of a morning loon
Its nighttime but life abounds
Chirping crickets on the ground

Dreaming of night as a memory
Something of which we should have many
‘cause when we die that’s all that is left
Of a man that the years have spent

Yes heavy thoughts for a traveling train
But something is only what we make it in the brain
If you can smile at the sun smile at the moon
Smile at the bad if you can smile at the good
