As I grow older
As I grow older by the day
I wonder what’s coming my way
Will this world be warm or cold
Will I be shy or will I be bold

Isn’t it funny how life can tear at our hearts
Seems like it ended before it began to start
But the trees only slumber in the fall
And in the spring they continue to grow tall

The cold rain beats down on me
Looking for the sunshine that I can’t see
Tomorrow maybe I’ll smile in the sun
But today I’m just sad and lonesome

As I grow older by the day
I wonder what’s coming my way
Will this world be warm or cold
Will I be shy or will I be bold

Thinking back on all those childhood memories
And how life used to be oh so very easy
But when we grow older we seldom know
The direction in which we really want to go

Tell me old man here on this bench
Is it that your life has come and went
Or is it that the time has finally died
When it was human for your heart to cry

As I grow older by the day
I wonder what’s coming my way
Will this world be warm or cold
Will I be shy or will I be bold
